Thread & Nut Sensors

Our thread and nut sensors detect the presence of a welded nut, in the correct location and with a quality thread - even through a blind or tapped hole in a sheet metal part. Nut sensors have a unique sensing probe that uses a radial detection field ensuring that the sensor can verify that the nut totally surrounds the probe.

Blank Sensing

Nut sensors use inductive proximity detection technology to sense the presence of a welded nut through a blank in sheet metal parts. These sensors have the widest range in the industry for more precise, accurate detection. And they are so sensitive they can be calibrated to detect thread presence and quality with a simple hand adjustment and an easy-to-read LED indicator.

Welding and Assembly

Our nut and thread detection systems are designed and proven to withstand harsh welding environments. The stainless steel probe and the sensing circuitry are purpose-built to be used as close as possible to the actual welding operation so badly built parts can be detected early in the assembly process.

Heavy Side Loading

The toughened version of our nut and thread sensors are built for heavy duty and heavy side loading applications. Collisions are no problem. They can even be used as gauging or locating pins.

Quality Checking

Are you trying to use an off-the-shelf sensor to detect whether a stud is present or not or whether it has threads? It’s a little late to learn that a stud has no threads when you’re trying to bolt an assembly together. Our inductive stud thread detector is the only sensor engineered to be sensitive and reliable enough to detect threads, so you’ll never again send a welded piece through to assembly with a faulty stud.

Harsh Environments

Every time a stud touches a sensor, the threads act like a file, slowly wearing the housing and faceplate away, unless of course, that sensor is our stud thread detector. With all steel housings and faceplate, this detector stands up to rigorous use. And we have mastered the art of keeping the steel sensor tuned. Not every steel sensor can do that.

Heavy Side Loading

Automation is precise and repetitive, but it’s not always perfect. Sometimes a part comes down on a sensor just enough out of place to impact the sensor. This can damage or wear out an ordinary sensor, but not the stud thread detector. The stainless steel construction stands up to heavy side loading, and it won’t gouge the threads either.
